The Charles Léopold Mayer Foundation for the Progress of Humankind (FPH) is a Swiss foundation that makes grants to civil society movements and organisations to support their actions in favour of a social and ecological transition.
The Board of Trustees is the supreme authority; it answers only to the Swiss supervisory board for foundations. The Board guarantees implementation of the foundation’s statutes and manages its fortune. In particular, it guarantees that the foundation continues to seek its initial goal and allocates assets accordingly.
The Board of Trustees fixes the foundation’s objectives and sets the guidelines. It designates a Management Board from amongst its members and appoints a director.
It decides on the annual amount to be taken from the patrimony and used to implement the foundation’s objectives.
The Board of Trustees is currently composed of nine active and nine honorary members.
The Management Board, composed entirely of members of the Board of Trustees, is responsible for managing the patrimony. This group informs the Board of Trustees on the current state of the patrimony and any changes that have occurred, and it suggests new investments. Each year the Management Board presents the foundation’s financial accounts for approval.
