The Charles Léopold Mayer Foundation for the Progress of Humankind (FPH) is a Swiss foundation that makes grants to civil society movements and organisations to support their actions in favour of a social and ecological transition.
ActionAid France-Peuples Solidaires, created in 1983, works for people’s rights and against world poverty. Since 2014, this NGO has been affiliated with the ActionAid International network. The French federation ActionAid France - Peuple Solidaires is composed of 45 local groups and hundreds of individual members; it has the support of a network of 180,000 people who regularly sign petitions directed at political leaders and companies.
The main objective of ActionAid France is to help make Southern voices heard, and thus influence decisions and practices that impact these populations but are made in France, the European Union or on the international level. The goal is to:
Ensure decent working conditions for workers in agricultural, textile and electronics supply chains, as well as in the informal sector;
Make sure governments and international corporations respect human rights and workers’ rights in producing countries;
Limit the abuses of power of large-scale distribution, and in particular sanction unfair trade practices.
Promote sustainable agriculture and poor populations’ control over natural resources;
Develop poor populations’ power to influence the policies of governments and companies;
Improve the quality of public education and help young people become drivers of change;
Strengthen vulnerable populations’ resilience in the face of conflicts and catastrophes;
Make sure women are able to escape poverty and violence, construct economic alternatives and retain control over their own bodies.
